If driving in traffic and nervous about "Road Rage," one would be well-served to fix on a car with the bumper sticker "When Jesus said 'love your enemies,' he probably didn't mean 'kill them!'"
Probably piloted by a Mennonite, Brethren, or Quaker (most likely NOT by an Amish person!), the car would at most flash you half a peace sign and give way to you. "Peace Church" folks take seriously Jesus's teachings about love, forgiveness, and nonviolent response even to evil done. They would find the term "Christian terrorist" the utmost of oxymoronic phrases.
But so is "Jewish terrorist," "Muslim terrorist," "Hindu terrorist," or terrorist identified by just about any religious tag. The teachings of the world's great wisdom traditions uniformly encourage what Christians call "the Golden Rule." Beating swords into ploughshares, being compassionate, avoiding any compulsion in religion - all are universals in these faiths.
Yet individual members of these religions do commit acts of violence and horror - as do states identified with a particular religion. And Jesus wept...and Abraham...and Mohammad...and the Buddha...and Krishna....
