Running the Marine Corps Marathon to keep a parent’s memory alive

From elsewhere in The Post via CBS News: Five-year-old Mary Webb was one of the youngest runners in the kid’s race for the Marine Corps Marathon. She and her mom, Shalan, traveled from New Jersey to participate in the annual event.

“This is the one thing I feel that I can do to keep Chris’ memory alive,” says Shalan when speaking of her husband, Army Staff Sergeant Christopher Webb, who was killed in Iraq in 2007.

Shalan has participated in the race in previous years, but this year was Mary’s first. Mary told CBS News what makes her dad so special. Watch her and Shalan’s interview after the jump.
