Bernanke hints at action: Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke called the rate of economic recovery unsatisfactory during a speech Friday and hinted that the central bank may soon introduce new steps to kick it into a higher gear.

Romney accepts nomination: Mitt Romney officially accepted his party’s nomination for president on Thursday, putting a triumphant close on the Republican Convention.
