Our daily blend of the latest news, trends and tips for the small business community.

What’s going ‘on’:

Business owners believe economy on wrong track: Roughly eight in 10 small business owners think the economy is headed in the wrong direction and seven in 10 say the health care law is making it harder to grow, according to a new U.S. Chamber of Commerce study.

Crowded grocery market squeezing out small players: An increasingly crowded field of big-box supermarkets is squeezing out small, do-it-all grocers that tried to compete directly with the national chains, but specialize stores appear to be holding their own.

Keep an eye ‘on’:

Bill to avoid debt crisis moving forward: A Republican bill to extend borrowing allowances and suspend the debt ceiling until May is expected to be approved in the House on Wednesday. On May 19, the borrowing limit would automatically be lifted.
