What’s going ‘on’:

Social media especially vital for small firms: Facebook and Twitter now account for more than half of website traffic for small businesses, more than double their impact for large companies (sending only 19 percent of visitors), according to a new study.

U.S. lags in economic freedom: The United States has dropped to 18th in the latest rankings of Economic Freedom published by the The Fraser Institute, which is comiled by various academic and financial institutions. Hong Kong maintained its top ranking.

Obama owns small business lead: A new poll shows that the president holds a 39 percent-to-31 percent edge over Mitt Romney among small business owners,Not surprisingly, candidates’ job creation and economic plans were the most important voting factors.

Small firms sound off on QE3: Responding to the Federal Reserve’s latest round of quantitative easing, several small business owners say the move won’t be enough to improve their outlook, though one says it should give business owners a bit more confidence.
