Dick Cheney’s publisher, media companies and readers are gearing up for the Aug. 30 release of the former vice president’s much-anticipated memoir.
Simon & Schuster’s conservative imprint, Threshold, has released the cover image for “In My Time: A Personal and Political Memoir” and promises that Cheney for the first time “opens up about a life and career in politics.”
Media companies are scrambling to land interviews with the former vice president. NBC news will do a multi-part sitdown with the author starting with a prime time Dateline interview on Aug. 29. That will be followed the next day by Cheney’s live appearance on the Today show.
The book will no doubt sit atop the bestseller lists but right now pre-orders leave it down around 2,800th on the Amazon list. Don’t go looking for enlightenment about what’s inside the book. The publisher isn’t saying, and the information on Amazon is strikingly weird. In the section titled: About the Author, you read this: “Edward Herrmann’s numerous theater credits include Mrs. Warren’s Profession, (Tony Award) The Philadelphia Story, Plenty, Love Letters, and an Obie Award for Outstanding Achievement In Theater. His films include Intolerable Cruelty, Welcome to Mooseport, The Aviator, The Cat’s Meow, Reds, and The Purple Rose of Cairo. Mr. Herrmann received an Emmy Award for his work on The Practice, and appears regularly as Richard Gilmore in the hit W.B. series Gilmore Girls.”
Apparently, Edward Herrmann has done the reading for the audio edition.
