Upcoming Event June 2015: Keeping U.S. Students Competitive

better-schools-imageAmerica Answers is a new Washington Post event series highlighting innovative ideas from cities, towns and people to tough, national challenges. In 2015, we’ll look at what schools across America are doing to attract top students to STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics,) including women who have been underrepresented.

What needs to be done to increase achievement in math and science among America’s students and to lift the nation’s overall education achievement?  Perhaps no other issue is as central to the nation’s competitiveness and the immediate needs of the business world. Outstanding teachers, companies partnering with high schools to make sure students are learning the skills needed for the workplace, and stellar STEM students will be featured, all with the aim of better preparing students for jobs.
