Amy Winehouse dies; ‘Rehab’ singer was 27

Amy Winehouse, the obsidian-haired British singer whose hits included “You Know I’m No Good,” and “Rehab” and who publicly struggled with addictions to alcohol and drugs, has reportedly died at her apartment in London. Sky News confirmed Ms. Winehouse’s death.

Ms. Winehouse had a powerful, moody voice that paired well with her street-glamorous looks, complete with thickly applied eyeliner, brash tatoos and dark hair she famously wore in a retro beehive.

She found quick popularity and overwhelming success on the American and British music charts beginning in 2006 with her hit single “Rehab.”

In the music video, Ms. Winehouse struts disheveled around a grimy apartment singing the contagious lyrics: “They tried to make me go to rehab and I said ‘no, no, no.’”

She also collaborated with British super-producer Mark Ronson on the sassy tune, “Valerie.”

Check out the video in the link above (and as a bonus see the District reppin’ rapper Wale’s cameo).

A full obituary on Ms. Winehouse will be online shortly. Please leave your memories of the singer below.
