Just after entering my mom’s Maryland apartment the night before Easter, she asked me, “Did you bring your Bible?” Er, no. She knows I have one because she gave it to me. But no worries. My barely technologically proficient mother had just the solution. A Bible app. She had one on her iPhone and she was demanding that I download it on my iPad. “You should always have the Bible on your iPad,” she said, “’cause you never know when you’ll need to call on the Lord.”
Now comes word that if I need super-immediate Divine Intervention I need look no further than @news_va_en
on Twitter. That would be the official Twitter handle for His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. His first Tweet reads, “Dear Friends, I just launched
http://t.co/fVHpS9y Praised be our Lord Jesus Christ! With my prayers and blessings, Benedictus XVI.”As you can see, it was sent from an iPad.
While I went to Catholic schools growing up, I’m not Catholic. But I am a Christian. So, if I ever need to “call on the Lord” and my Bible app isn’t handy or crashes, I’m happy to know the Pope is standing by.
