There was one perfect candidate in the GOP presidential race, says Michele Bachmann.

And that candidate was Michele Bachmann.

The Minnesota congresswoman, who dropped her White House bid after placing sixth in the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses, told Bloomberg TV’s Al Hunt in an interview that aired over the weekend that GOP primary voters had their chance, but they missed it.

From the interview transcript:

HUNT: You are remaining above the fray. But you sat in, in almost a dozen debates with these people. You have a feel for them. Let me ask you this. Who is the more conservative of these four candidates left?
BACHMANN: I was. I was the perfect candidate.
HUNT: Right, so who’s the second -
BACHMANN: When I — when I went out there, and so, you know —
HUNT: Who’s the second most conservative?
BACHMANN: America had their chance with the perfect candidate. But any of our candidates are going to be acceptable to the American people, and more than acceptable, because right now, if you look at the Gallup map that came out this week, President Obama is in big trouble all across the country.

(Hat tip to our former colleague, Hotline’s Dan Roem, for the catch.)
