Michelle Obama will release a book centered on the White House kitchen garden in April, according to Crown Publishing Group.
The book, titled “American Grown: How the White House Kitchen Garden Inspires Families, Schools, and Communities,” will land amid the 2012 campaign and feature photos of the first lady that includes photographs of the White House garden and Obama throughout the seasons.
The book will “celebrate the benefits of American community, school, and urban gardens and of healthy, nutritious food for our nation’s families and communities,” said Maya Mavjee, president of Crown.
It could also play well politically at a time that Obama’s popularity far surpasses her husband. Obama had a 67 percent favorable rating in the Associated Press/GfK poll released last week.
Proceeds for the book will go to an unnamed charity and the first lady accepted no advance for the title.
