‘SNL’ lampoons Rick Perry’s ‘oops’ moment

By ,

“Saturday Night Live” devoted its opening sketch last night to Wednesday’s CNBC Republican debate, and unsurprisingly, focused on Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s now-famous “oops” gaffe. During the debate, Perry was unable to name all three of the federal departments he says he would eliminate as president.

In the skit, CNBC’s John Harwood (played by Fred Armisen) and Maria Bartiromo (Nasim Pedrad) repeatedly press Perry (again portrayed by Bill Hader) to come up with the third department. As Perry struggles to remember the answer, much to the agony of the other candidates, he names “the department that does zoos and parades.” At one point, Herman Cain (played by Kenan Thompson) volunteers to share all the details of his sexual harassment scandal in order to make it stop.
