Jane Edmonds began her speech by making one thing very clear: she’s a liberal Democrat.
But Romney’s former secretary of the workforce in Massachusetts effusively praised his character and work ethic, and noted the steps he made while he was governor to increase the role of women in top government jobs.
“The late Stephen Covey writes about 2 kinds of people: one type is all about themselves and their success. The other type works as hard as they can — and certainly succeeds, but their success is motivated by doing good for others,” Edmonds said. “That’s how I see Governor Romney. He is authentic.”
Edmonds is one of many African-Americans to take the stage at the Republican National Convention this week.
