Paul Ryan to Iowa on eve of Biden DNC speech

Rep. Paul Ryan will be in Iowa next Wednesday, the eve of Vice President Biden's Democratic National Convention speech in Charlotte, a campaign aide confirmed Saturday afternoon.

News of Ryan's visit was first reported by the Des Moines Register.

Ryan, the GOP vice presidential nominee, is expected to visit Cedar Rapids on Tuesday night and Des Moines on Wednesday. On Monday, he will headline a rally in Greenville, N.C., about four-and-a-half hours away from the Democratic convention site of Charlotte.

Ryan was last in the swing state of Iowa on Aug. 13, when he made his first solo campaign appearance as presumptive GOP vice presidential nominee. The Des Moines visit drew crowds of more than 3,000. But the appearance ended up being a chaotic one, as protesters interrupted Ryan for the duration of his speech at the Iowa State Fair, and two women tried to storm the stage as he spoke.

On Saturday, Ryan was in Columbus, Ohio, where he watched the Ohio State University-Miami University of Ohio football game. Ryan, a Miami of Ohio alum, flipped a few burgers and played a game of cornhole at a tailgate hosted by his former fraternity brothers. He also spoke to members of his alma mater team in the locker room before the game. (flipped a few burgers: http://www.buzzfeed.com/zekejmiller/paul-ryan-plays-cornhole
