GOP cries foul on ‘severe weather’

September 5, 2012

Republicans are already claiming that it is low interest, not severe weather, that has pushed President Obama's convention speech out of the Bank of America stadium.

"After promising to speak at Bank of America stadium rain or shine, Team Obama is moving inside. Troubles filling the seats?" tweeted Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus. National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Paul Lindsay wrote in an e-mail that the decision was made due to "a lack of enthusiasm."

The chief meteorologist at Charlotte's NBC affiliate appears to be questioning the decision:

But the weather has been genuinely unpredictable and has already caused problems with electrical equipment at the stadium.
