Jerusalem language going back in DNC platform

Democrats will put language recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital back into the party platform, NBC News first reported.

The 2008 Democratic platform stated that Jerusalem “is and will remain” Israel’s capital. That language was taken out of the 2012 platform, something Republicans have seized on as evidence of a lack of commitment to Israel.

The U.S. government does not formally recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital because Palestinians also claim the city as the capital of their future state.
