Arena on lockdown, but Al Franken gets in

A surprise addition to tonight's program: the DNC Fun Run. Competitors -- VIPS, members of media, delegates with babes in arm -- race in a circle to successive entrances to the Time Warner Cable Arena as fire marshalls close each door, citing fire code.

"But we were told by the last guy to come to this door!" protested the woman holding the toddler. "Only senators and members of Congress, ma'am," said the guard. "Fire doesn't apply to members of Congress?" she snapped.

Security is keeping hundreds of credentialed supporters and media -- including a delegate from Illinois -- behind barricades.

But Sen. Al Franken (Minn.) was easily waved through. "He's a member of Congress," a uniformed officer said when people in the crowd asked.
