Tentative deal reached in Chicago teachers’ strike

Striking teachers in Chicago have reached a tentative deal with the city that will end a five-day stand-off and send 400,000 children back to class by Monday, according to sources close to the negotiations.

“Tweaks are being made to the final proposal but we have a tentative agreement,” said one source. The deal still has to be ratified by the union, which has scheduled a meeting Sunday.
