New poll bucks trend, gives Scott Brown lead

September 20, 2012

Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) leads Harvard law professor Elizabeth Warren (D) by four points in the latest Boston Herald/UMass Lowell poll, after four polls in a row showing the Democratic challenger ahead. Brown beats Warren by six points with registered voters and four points with likely voters in the survey, which has a 5.5 point margin of error.

Unlike other recent surveys, this poll finds no convention bounce for Warren. Brown's lead with independents and his support among Obama voters are both larger.

But there's some good news for Warren here. A third of Brown supporters are open to changing their vote; only 19 percent of Warren backers say the same.
