The story behind ‘Game Change’

With talk of game-changing campaign videos in the air, here's a new bonus feature from the Blu-ray/HBO Select release of Emmy-winning HBO movie "Game Change."

In the clip, executive producer Gary Goetzman, director/executive producer Jay Roach and book co-author Mark Halperin explain why, of all the stories in the book, they chose to make a movie about Sen. John McCain's choice of then-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate in 2008.

Palin and her political advisers slammed the film, which depicts Palin as unprepared for national office and overwhelmed by the demands of the campaign.

Another extra features The Washington Post's Karen Tumulty, along with Republican strategist Ed Rollins, and a panel of CNN journalists discussing what it takes to run for president. The movie comes out on Blu-ray with HBO Select on Jan. 8th, 2013.

Rachel Weiner covers local politics for The Washington Post.
