First Post-ABC tracking poll: Obama 49, Romney 48

Every day from now through Nov. 5, a new Washington Post-ABC News tracking poll will be released. The first poll shows a tie among likely voters nationally.

Going into the foreign policy debate, Mitt Romney has leveled the playing field with President Obama on the issue. The Republican also runs about evenly with the president as voters’ pick of who would be the better commander-in-chief, on international affairs generally, and on handling terrorism specifically.
