Romney in touch with authorities on storm

FEMA confirms that Mitt Romney's campaign contacted the Department of Homeland Security this afternoon requesting an update on Hurricane Sandy. FEMA Deputy Administrator Rich Serino, a former Boston-based emergency manager, provided an update to Romney by phone, officials said.

Romney is reportedly considering a trip to New Jersey to survey storm damage with Gov. Chris Christie (R). He has also been in touch with Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R), and on the campaign trail the candidate has encouraged supporters to donate to the Red Cross. His events for Monday night and Tuesday have been cancelled
