Anthony Weiner returns to Twitter

Former congressman Anthony Weiner posted his first tweet in nearly 18 months, linking to a video of Superstorm Sandy-damaged Rockaway Beach, N.Y., which falls partly in his old congressional district.

For Weiner, it was a return to the medium that was his political downfall. In 2011, the representative left office after sending lewd images over Twitter, resulting in a scandal that turned him into a national punchline. He said in a July interview that he has no immediate plans to run for office again.

Now that the election is over, expect the narrative on the East Coast to shift somewhat back to the storm and its victims, especially with a nor'easter bearing down on areas affected by the hurricane. Many of Sandy's victims voted and then evacuated Tuesday ahead of an expected storm.
