GOP Rep: Immigration bill not enough

A number of Republicans have suggested that the party should move quickly on immigration reform after losing Hispanic voters so badly in last week's election. Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) argued in an interview with the New York Times that it's not that simple. 

“We lost many demographic groups,” he said. “The issue to me is why. I don’t think we are one comprehensive immigration bill away from winning Hispanic voters, any more than we are one marginal rate increase from economic nirvana.”
