House GOP will get ‘Plan B’ details

December 18, 2012

House Republicans will hold a 5 p.m. closed-door meeting, their second of the day, to get briefed by House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on the specifics of legislation he will advance as his "Plan B" to avoid the fiscal cliff.

GOP leaders plan to then work to rally support for the proposal and count votes from those who would back such a plan during a vote on an unrelated matter that will begin around 6 p.m. before assessing the level of support for the idea among their own members. Republicans said they've been told to expect a floor vote to be held on the idea as early as Thursday.
