Biden to meet with House Democrats

Vice President Joe Biden will attend a meeting of House Democrats, now set for 12:15 pm, to sell a deal to largely avert the fiscal cliff that he personally crafted with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

Biden also visited the Hill late Monday night to play the same role with Senate Democrats. After a nearly two hour meeting, Biden emerged and was asked what he said to persuade wavering Democrats. "I said, 'this is Joe Biden, and I'm your buddy,'" Biden told reporters.
