House to vote on Senate-passed deal tonight

January 1, 2013

House GOP leaders have decided to bring up the Senate-passed fiscal cliff bill for a clean, up-or-down vote Tuesday evening, ending consideration of trying to amend the measure and send it back to the Senate, according to a leadership aide.

This sets up a vote that could come before 10 p.m., the aide said, providing possible final passage of the effort to avoid stringent austerity measures set to take affect in the coming days.
