Biden, M.C. Hammer to address nation’s mayors

Vice President Biden will speak at the Opening Plenary Luncheon of the 81st Winter Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors at the Capitol Hilton Hotel on Jan. 17. 

Also on the list of Thursday's speakers: Singer M.C. Hammer, along with Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Energy Secretary Steven Chu, Rep. James McGovern (D-Mass.) and pollster John Zogby.

Later in the three-week conference, attendees will hear from Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, singer Mario and The Roots. 

The group plans to discuss deficit reduction and sequestration, job and economic growth in high unemployment areas, gun control and school safety, Hurricane Sandy, immigration and a possible end to the tax-exempt status of municipal bonds. And maybe "U Can't Touch This?"

More than  270 mayors plan to attend.
