GOP: Obama voted for default

Republicans pushed back on Monday against President Obama’s assertion that voting against raising the debt ceiling amounts to voting for the government to default, pointing to then-Sen. Obama’s 2006 vote against raising the federal borrowing limit.

Brendan Buck, spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), argued that the debt-ceiling battle doesn’t have to be a perpetual one as Obama has suggested – as long as the president “gets serious” about reforming government spending.
