A woman was escorted out of the House chamber after shouting for a vote on gun control. Democrats had been cheering, “vote, vote” after President Obama declared that victims of gun violence “deserve a vote” in Congress on his proposals.
When taken out in the hall, the woman, who did not give her name before being escorted away, was seen crying.
“My niece was killed,” she said.
Update at 10:55 p.m.:
The woman — still unidentified — was not arrested and was advised of the rules of the gallery. She did not return to the House Gallery to watch the remainder of the speech, according to U.S. Capitol Police spokesman Shennell Antrobus.
