President Obama plans to deliver commencement addresses this spring at three universities, including the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, the White House said Monday.
Obama also will address graduates at The Ohio State University in Columbus and at Morehouse College, the all-male historically black college in Atlanta.
Each year, the president traditionally speaks at a commencement ceremony at one of the nation’s five military academies. Obama last addressed the Naval Academy in 2009.
In a statement, a White House official noted that the academy “provides its graduating midshipmen with extraordinary skills and character to lead the world’s greatest Navy and Marine Corps.”
The White House official noted Ohio State’s “long tradition of leadership in research and innovation,” which are key pillars of Obama’s second-term agenda, while hailing Morehouse for its “high standard for excellence in learning and social consciousness.”
