President Obama’s administration is taking heat from Republicans and fact-checkers for over-selling the effects of the sequester.
But that didn’t stop Obama from cracking a joke about the whole situation during an appearance in Illinois on Friday.
While appearing at the Argonne National Laboratory in Argonne, Ill., Obama was met by a crowd that failed to sit down — apparently because he had not told them to.
“I wasn’t sure everybody had chairs there. Please feel free to sit down. I’m sorry,” he said. “Everybody was standing. I thought Argonne — you know, one of the effects of the sequester, you had to get rid of chairs.”
The joke was met with a chorus of laughter.
But Republicans quickly posted the clip to YouTube.
