Obama cracks a sequester joke

President Obama's administration is taking heat from Republicans and fact-checkers for over-selling the effects of the sequester.

But that didn't stop Obama from cracking a joke about the whole situation during an appearance in Illinois on Friday.

While appearing at the Argonne National Laboratory in Argonne, Ill., Obama was met by a crowd that failed to sit down -- apparently because he had not told them to.

"I wasn't sure everybody had chairs there. Please feel free to sit down. I'm sorry," he said. "Everybody was standing. I thought Argonne -- you know, one of the effects of the sequester, you had to get rid of chairs."

The joke was met with a chorus of laughter.

But Republicans quickly posted the clip to YouTube.
