Rand Paul announces support for path to legalization

March 19, 2013

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), a leading voice in the new generation of conservative Republicans and the tea party, announced Tuesday that he supports a path to legal status for illegal immigrants.

The decision makes Paul the latest Republican to push for the party to move to the middle on comprehensive immigration reform.

Post Politics' Rosalind S. Helderman has the story.

Correction: This post initially stated that Paul supported a path to citizenship. His staff notes that he did not, in fact, mention a path to citizenship, but rather to legal status.
