Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) said on the House floor Thursday that Obamacare would kill women, children and senior citizens — “literally.”
“That’s why we’re here: Because we’re saying let’s repeal this failure before it literally kills women, kills children, kills senior citizens,” Bachmann said. “Let’s not do that. Let’s love people. Let’s care about people. Let’s repeal it now while we can.”
The outspoken tea party congresswoman who ran for president in 2012 is no stranger to hyperbole, of course, and her claims at last weekend’s Conservative Political Action Conference earned her a pair of Four Pinocchio verdicts from Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler.
Her comments hearken back to the 2009 health-care debate, when another outspoken member of Congress from the other side of the aisle, Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.), said that Republicans’ health-care plan amounted to having people “die quickly.”
