Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) announced Monday that a three-person delegation, led by Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) will attend on behalf of the House. Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), a 2008 presidential candidate, and George Holding (R-N.C.), a freshman congressman from the Raleigh area, will join Blackburn as members of the delegation.

Boehner said in a statement Monday that Thatcher "was one of the greatest champions freedom has ever known, and her funeral gives Americans and friends around the world an opportunity to pay final respects."

The 87-year old Thatcher died one week ago. In anticipation of a large funeral, officials held a pre-dawn rehearsal for the ceremonies on Monday, as London prepares to host more than 2,000 dignitaries from around the world. The funeral will be held Wednesday at London's storied St. Paul's Cathedral. In a break with tradition, Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Phillip, plan to attend the service.

The White House has not announced who will lead the official U.S. delegation to the funeral.

In keeping with recent budgetary restrictions on official travel, Boehner's office said that Blackburn, Bachmann and Holding will travel on commercial aircraft to the funeral.
