A small high school in Washington state says it has landed Sarah Palin as its commencement speaker -- the result of an effort by the school's senior class to woo the former Alaska governor.
Republic High School announced the big get in a recent press release, which also notes that the senior class features 27 students. The school says the class president led a concerted letter-writing and social media campaign.
"Republic High School is excited to announce that former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has accepted the invitation of the senior class to serve as the 2013 commencement speaker on June 1, 2013."
Palin aides have yet to respond to a request from Post Politics.
Republic is a small town in northeastern Washington, near the Canadian border. The ceremony will be held in the school's gymnasium.
