Ernest Moniz confirmed as Energy secretary

In a unanimous vote, the Senate has confirmed physicist Ernest Moniz as secretary of energy.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor replaces Steven Chu. The vote was 97 to 0 and comes on same day that committees cleared a key judicial nominee, as well as Obama's candidates to lead the Environmental Protection Agency and Labor Department.

The Senate Energy Committee approved Moniz’s nomination on April 18, but Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) held up a full Senate vote in protest of budget cuts for a nuclear processing facility in his home state.
