President Obama is “really losing the moral authority to lead this nation” because of three scandals that have erupted in recent weeks, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky) said Sunday.
Paul said the president is damaged by the assertion that the IRS targeted conservative groups for extra scrutiny, as well as revelations that the Justice Department has collected e-mails and phone records of journalists who were working on stories involving national security.
“I think we have to get to the bottom of this,” Paul said on “This Week with George Stephanopolous”. “I think the constellation of these three scandals ongoing, really takes away from the president's moral authority to lead the nation. Nobody questions his legal authority, but I think he's really losing the moral authority to lead this nation. And he really needs to put a stop to this. I don't care whether you're a Republican or a Democrat, nobody likes to see the opposite party punishing you for your political beliefs.”
