Michele Bachmann won’t seek reelection

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) announced in a video posted overnight that she will not seek reelection in 2014.

In the nearly nine-minute long video, Bachmann gives a detailed explanation for her decision.

“Be assured, my decision was not it any way influenced by any concerns about my being reelected to Congress,” Bachmann, 57, said. “I have every confidence that if I ran, I would again defeat the individual that I defeated last year.”

Bachmann narrowly survived in 2012 after her failed run for president, and she faced a re-match with Democrat Jim Graves.
