Corker: My border security deal is ‘almost overkill’

Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) said Thursday morning that the border security deal he helped broker for the Senate immigration bill is so tough that it's "almost overkill."

“For people who are concerned about border security, once they see what is in this bill, it’s almost overkill,” Corker said on MSNBC's "Daily Rundown."

According to the Post's Ed O'Keefe, the centerpiece of the proposal is a "border surge" that will double the number of enforcement agents at the U.S.-Mexico border, along with building 700 miles of border fence and provide money for aerial drones to monitor the border.

Republican senators have been pushing for a tougher border security element in the immigration bill -- something they say is necessary to get significant GOP support and make the bill passable in the GOP-controlled House.
