Palin: Immigration bill shows ‘disrespect’ for Hispanics

Sarah Palin told establishment Republicans on Friday that they "disrespect Hispanics" by pushing for a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants.

"You disrespect Hispanics with your assumption that they desire ignoring the rule of law," Palin said in a new captioned photo uploaded to her Facebook page.

Palin headlines the post sarcastically, "Great job, GOP establishment" and says the party will lose elections if it passes the bill.

"You've just abandoned the Reagan Democrats with this amnesty bill," Palin said. "It was the loss of working class voters in swing states that cost us the 2012 election, not the Hispanic vote."

In contrast to Palin's claim, polling suggests that Hispanics are significantly more in favor of a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants than the rest of America. An NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll from earlier this year showed 82 percent of Hispanics favor a path to citizenship — 55 percent strongly — while just 15 percent oppose one.

Among all Americans, 64 percent want a path to citizenship, while 35 percent oppose one.
