American Action Network boosts Rubio with cable ad

The American Action Network launched a cable television advertising campaign Tuesday to tout Sen. Marco Rubio's (R-Fla.) support for an immigration bill which contains what the narrator of the ad calls the "toughest border security plan ever passed by Congress."

"Call Senator Rubio. Thank him for keeping his promise, and fighting to secure the border," concludes the narrator.

I addition to Rubio, the narrator also says the border security plan is "supported by conservative leaders" like "Jeb Bush and Paul Ryan."

American Action Network, a group formed by Republican power brokers, is putting $50,000 behind the spot. It will air on Fox News Channel in Florida during the next couple of weeks, the group said.

Rubio is a member of the "Gang of Eight" that crafted the immigration bill that passed the Senate last week, 68-32. He was the gang's chief conservative salesman, and has faced consistent pushback from the political right during the past few months.
