Mitt Romney's campaign brain trust is coming together to raise money for a new Republican super PAC, America Rising.
Matt Rhoades, Romney's 2012 campaign manager and one of America Rising's co-founders, will greet campaign veterans on Tuesday at a complimentary happy hour and a $1,000-a-plate dinner for the group, according to an invitation.
Rhoades is hosting the event, along with deputy campaign manager Katie Packer Gage, media strategists Stuart Stevens and Russ Schriefer, political director Rich Beeson, digital director Zac Moffatt, pollster Neil Newhouse, campaign counsel Ben Ginsberg, former senator and policy adviser Jim Talent, and several other top aides from the 2012 campaign. Charlie Spies and Larry McCarthy, who worked for Romney in 2008 and for a pro-Romney super PAC in 2012, are also on the list.
The event was first reported by Politico.
America Rising was formed earlier this year by Rhoades and two former staffers for the Republican National Committee. The goal is to rival the Democratic opposition research super PAC American Bridge, which helped bring down Republican Senate candidates in the last cycle.
