Obama: ‘We are not negotiating on the debt ceiling’

President Obama visited Capitol Hill on Wednesday to huddle with anxious Democrats in both chambers and lay the groundwork for high-stakes fall debates over the budget, federal debt and immigration reform.

“We are not negotiating on the debt ceiling,” Obama told the lawmakers, according to the notes of a senior Democrat in the closed-door session.
