Anthony Weiner: ‘Carlos Danger’ was a joke

In an interview with the Spanish-language television station Univision, Anthony Weiner opened up (a bit) about why he chose the name "Carlos Danger" for his online exchanges with Sydney Leathers.

"It was a joke in my personal life between me and one person," the New York City mayoral candidate said. "I'm not going to comment on anything about the information that that person has chosen to release. They can do whatever they want, try to harm me in any way that they want. I'm moving forward."

Since releasing transcripts of her chats with "Danger" to a gossip site, Leathers has given several interviews calling the former congressman a sex-obsessed hypocrite.

The Rev. Erick Salgado, a longshot Democratic rival, has demanded Weiner apologize to the Latino community for the sexting moniker that has been the butt of so many jokes. “For Anthony Weiner to hide under a Spanish name to do his bad behavior is very insulting to the Spanish community,” Saldago said.
