White House says Obama’s economy speech still on schedule

The White House says President Obama's economic speech at 11:40 a.m. remains on the schedule, despite a volatile situation following shootings in Southeast Washington.

Asked whether the speech might be delayed, a White House spokesman said they "don't think so."

Obama is set to address the fifth anniversary of the 2008 economic collapse and the progress being made. The address is scheduled to take place in the Rose Garden.

Police say four have been killed and eight injured, and there might be as many as two shooters. They say one shooter has been taken down, but the situation remains unresolved.
