House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) suggested Sunday that she remains interested in becoming speaker of the House again and said she plans to run for and win reelection to the House next year.
Pelosi was asked a few weeks ago whether she "wish(ed) for the chance" to become speaker again, to which she responded: "No, that's not my thing. I did that."
Asked Sunday whether she was signaling that she wasn't interested in getting her old job back, Pelosi said people shouldn't over-analyze that comment.
"I answered the question, 'Do you sit around dreaming about being speaker again,'" Pelosi said CNN's "State of the Union." She repeated that the answer to that question is "no."
"People read into that as, 'She doesn't want to be speaker again,'" Pelosi said. "One day at a time. I love having the support of my caucus. We have a good working relationship."
Pelosi, 73, said she intends to run for reelection in 2014 and win another term -- something that is in little doubt in one of the most liberal districts in the country.
