Kerry: Obama deeply regrets missing Asia conference

BALI, Indonesia -- President Obama deeply regrets that the U.S. government shutdown forced him to skip the  Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, Secretary of State John F. Kerry told delegates here on Monday. Kerry is filling in.

"In 2004 I worked very hard to replace a president," quipped Kerry, who was the Democratic presidential nominee that year but lost to then-President George W. Bush  . "This was not what I had in mind."
