Democratic group’s ads target Boehner, McConnell

October 30, 2013

A Democratic group has launched a six-figure ad buy against the top Republicans in the House and Senate, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), respectively.

Patriot Majority USA -- an arm of the Patriot Majority super PAC -- is responsible for the ad, which notes that the government shutdown cost the country $24 billion and blames the GOP leaders.

As the narrators talks, images of burning money drift over the screen.

The same ad will run in both lawmakers' media markets. The group is spending $260,000 in Kentucky and $140,000 in Boehner's nearby district for a total of $400,000.

McConnell is Democrats' top target in the Senate in 2014, but Boehner's district is safe, having gone 62 percent for Mitt Romney in 2012.
